Lesson 3: Energy Work Part I -- Hearing your body

Energy Work describes healing techniques that aim to restore the natural flow of energy through the physical body.

The human body is surrounded by an energy field (also called aura) which emanates from it. Physical and emotional symptoms are always visible in the energy field as constrictions. Energy Work locates and releases these constrictions which immediately affects the physical body by allowing it to heal itself.

Energy Work includes techniques such as Reiki, Healing Touch and Pranic Healing. I personally learned a technique called the Yuen Method of Energy Healing. But not only was this technique very expensive (over $1500), it also used Muscle Response Test which is not always reliable and can be very tricky to learn.

That's why I have developed an Energy Work technique that you can learn without having to take expensive seminars. It will get you started in using Energy Work to heal physical and emotional blockages your healthy body weight!



The Intuitive Practice

In today's Intuitive Practice, we'll focus on the first part of Energy Work: Hearing your body's messages.

  1. Get a pen and paper. In the early practice stages, I suggest that you write down your body's messages until you are confident you can remember them.
  2. Go to an emotionally neutral place. In order to clearly identify the messages from your body, you need to start from a place of neutrality. Otherwise, you might pick up on irrelevant emotions or random thoughts. To do this, think about a table, a soap bar, a water bottle or anything else that stirs no emotional response from you. Find something that just leaves you indifferent. Hold this image for a few seconds until you find yourself in a place that is emotionally quiet.
  3. Focus on a part of your body calling for attention. It could be a location that is sore, painful or the general location of a disease.
  4. Hover your dominant hand above that location, 2-3 inches away from your body. If the location is unreachable such as on your lower back, close your eyes and imagine that you are standing behind your own body. Picture this in your mind's eye. Now you can reach out with your hand and hover over the right location on that projection of your body.
  5. Pay attention to emotions and thoughts that pop into your mind and write down notes about what you feel/think. This is what your body wants you to address, a message about the root cause of this constriction. You might feel angry, sad, anxious. An old negative memory might pop in your mind or you might see an image, a metaphor for what is going on. Don't judge it! Just write it down.
  6. Go back to your neutral place (think about your table or soap bar) to step away from this wounded energy.
  7. Repeat step 3 to 6 until you feel done or no more than 15 minutes.
  8. ALWAYS end your Energy Work session by returning to your neutral place.
Quick Tips
  • Practice, practice, practice! Before we move on to Part II - Healing your body, you need to master this step. I suggest you spend a few days practicing this until you feel really comfortable hearing your body.
  • Energy Work requires a lot of trust. You will need to trust that you are not making stuff up but are truly hearing the message of your body. If this is difficult for you, you can use this EFT training video on Trust:
