Who said Manifestation was easy?

October 31st, 2007

…because I’d like to club them behind the head…or at least be
slightly rude to them so they can rightfully feel ashamed of their
misrepresentation!

Maybe learning to manifest what you want is supposed to be easy, but it sure wasn’t for me.  I learned about the concept of creating what you want through the Teaching of Abraham (tm).   A
jolly bunch of teachers after my own heart.  One thing was always sure
when I went to an "Art of Allowing" seminar, I was in for some serious
laughs.

Which really help get the pill down.  Because it’s one major swallow.
Even though the concepts behind the process of Manifestation have been
around for a long long time (such as in the book "Think ans Grow Rich",
1937) and have been proven to work by successful people all over the
place, it’s still a big jump for the mind.

And that’s where I
tripped:  My mind was balking at the considerable mental gymnastics
required to use these principles.  I guess that’s probably how people felt when someone suggested that the
Earth is round (about 2500 years ago).  A concept like that just takes
a while to sink in.

Surprisingly, one of the big problems I ran into was an overwhelming
amount of information.  Just do a search in the net for Manifestation
or, the most popular term "Law of Attraction" and you’ll be deluged
with information.

Wanting to get results as quickly as possible, I engulfed large amounts of data every day, for months: I had several
Abraham-Hicks tapes, I had the books, I did the exercises, I was in a
study group, I was online posting about it…

Until one day I threw it all up.  It was too much for my poor brain.
The concepts were so life altering that the gap I had to fill to get
there was humongous.  I had lived most of my life in misery, with one
catastrophe after another.  My friends would call this the "Elise Saga",
when referring to my life.

In order to turn that ship around, I had to
exert fantastic amounts of time and energy (and money!).  And it was all
too much, too fast.  So I decided Manifestation didn’t work and threw
away my books.

So yeah, Manifestation was really hard for me in the beginning.  And yet, dammit, it worked.
I DID get what I wanted, even if it often took a long, long time.
There were also times when everything lined up perfectly and it felt
like overnight magic

That’s probably what kept me going, and got me to come back after the big throw up.  The results.
Not only in the physical stuff, but also in my day to day level of happiness.
After all, the reason why we want the stuff is because we want to be
happy…

I spent decades being miserable, oh maybe 85% of the time…Now, I’m
happy 85% of the time.  It’s funny to me how some people think that because I’m intuitive, I always know what to do and it ensues that I’m
always happy.  Heck no!  It’s true that I typically know what to do next, but
sometimes that seems to impossible, or so far away or so plain weird that I
get down too.  But those down don’t last more than 24 hours anymore and they
don’t seem to happen as often as they used to.

It’s certainly not the 100% blissful life that I’ve seen advertised on
some of those Manifestation and Law of Attraction programs.  But at
least it’s based on reality as I’ve experienced it.

I think learning to follow your Intuition and learning to manifest can
be tough (for some of my clients, it’s a piece of cake…I’m so
jealous!), but considering the alternatives (i.e. continuing with a life
of random crap and occasional victories), it’s totally worth it for me.

I also think that it’s always easier to find the shortest path when
you’ve arrived and you’ll looking back on your tracks.  Throughout my
work with Intuition, I took some amazingly long detours.  Like that
phase where I was so overwhelmed with information that I ended up
throwing it all up.  Never again!

Now that I do have a good
process that works, I can look back and see the quicker route I could have taken…

Maybe, years from now, the Applied Intuition Program
will be known as an efficient shortcut to help us bridge the gap
between our current reality and our goal to become deliberate creators,
as comfortably as possible.  That sure is why it was created.

Law Of Attraction: Hey, that’s not what I asked for!

September 5th, 2007

Although most of my work is based on the Law of Attraction as discussed in the Teachings of Abraham (tm), I have always been reluctant to directly talk about this concept.  Yes, I’m a chicken when it comes to LOA!

But I have a compelling reason: My first experience with LOA (before I figured out how to also handle the Law of Allowing) was disastrous…

Initially, I figured that if I "thought positive" about what I wanted, I was sure to win the lottery within a few weeks.  I mean, how hard can it be to only think about buckets of cash?  But it turned out to be harder than I ever imagined…

The first problem I ran into was the thought monitoring syndrome.  Since I wanted to have only positive thoughts, I had to always pay attention to my thoughts and then arm wrestle the "bad ones" away.  A few days of this brought me to the brink of insanity!  Not only is thought monitoring hard but it doesn’t work.  Because the other thoughts were still there…I was just resisting them.  And by LOA, resisting a thought attracts even more negative thoughts!  That turned into one big manifestational mess.

The second problem I ran into was the halfway point syndrome  I would experienced terrible disappointment when I worked on something for a couple of weeks without seeing much tangible changes.  That’s what Abraham-Hicks calls "taking score":  When you’re halfway towards your goal but you start to think about how you’re not there yet ("where the hell is my bucket of cash?").  At that point, you are actually turning around, going AWAY from what you want.  I went back and forth for months, with piles of half-baked cakes littering my manifestational kitchen…

The third problem I ran into was the specific form syndrome.  I would focus on something so specific  (such as "Doubling my income in 30 days" or "loosing 20 pounds in 60 days") that it became impossible not to feel bad about it.  First, the limiting belief would come up ("but I haven’t lost weight for years, I might not be able to do it anymore").  Then the doubt and powerlessness would pop up to liven the party ("what if I fail again", "what if Abraham is wrong" …or worse"What if I’m wrong").  Phew, can you imagine how much contrast that created?

Soooooooo, when the times comes for me to talk about LOA, I always want to put a huge disclaimer at the bottom saying: "LOA works but it helps if you know about this, and this, and this".  Which is easily overwhelming to a newcomer to these kinds of concepts.

With all the attention that LOA is getting from mainstream (with the movie "The Secret", Oprah and even Abraham being in the spotlight), I am VERY curious to see how how the crowds will digest this fabulous concept…

Partially to address my own concerns about LOA indigestion, I created the Applied Intuition Program.   This online coaching program gives you all the shorcuts to facilitates a gradual easing into these awesome concepts, so you can feel good along the way and steer clear of the common LOA syndromes I described earlier.  And through the miracle of technology, I was able to customize each concept to the specific emotional state you’re in as you read each topic.  No book can do that for you!

The Teachings of Abraham(tm) is trademarked by Abraham-Hicks publications.

Contrast: Finding the Sweet Spot

August 11th, 2007

"As you diminish contrast, you diminish your ability to decide, and as
you diminish your ability to decide, you diminish your ability to focus,
and as you diminish your ability to focus, you do away with your reason
for existing."
- Abraham-Hicks.

I had been turning in circles for a long time before I discovered Abraham.  If you have not done so already, listen to their free CD (online).  It’s practically an "Owner’s Manual" for human beings.

Abraham talks a lot about this concept of contrast.  Contrast is all the different experiences in your life that provoke a strong emotional response in you: You hate it, you love it.

Contrast is useful because it helps us clarify what we want.  And when we know what we want, we can go for it.  By the time your car breaks down on the highway for the third time, you become QUITE clear that you want a newer car…Contrast triggers evolution.

Humans also enjoy a healthy dose of contrast.  Imagine going to see a movie where everyone is perfectly fine.  Nothing ever happens to them.  No intense emotions one way or the other… Compare this to day time soaps or action movie (very popular in the US) where everything happens to everyone and no one is ever happy for long.

Which leads us to that "sweet spot" of contrast.  Abraham mentions that without any contrast at all, we loose our reason for living (evolution).  But too much contrast can lead us straight to depression and suicide.  That’s not much fun either.

On a daily basis, we are looking for the perfect blend of contrast that keeps us reaching for more things to be happy about (evolution) while also being comfortable enough to avoid feeling overwhelmed (depression).

In my work as an Intuitive Counselor, I constantly see people who think they would be so much happier without any contrast at all.  And yet, without contrast there is no purpose for life, no evolution.

Part of my work is to bring that "sweet spot of contrast" where you feel really good about your life and yet you know that contrast will happen.  By being aware of this process, we make sure you spend the least amount of time being stuck in contrast before swiftly moving up towards evolution.  I’m just a shortcut :)

Boredom: My sticky spot on the emotional scale

February 14th, 2007

I stumbled upon my Intuitive gifts when I was pregnant with my son.  That was 5 years ago.  At the time, I was struggling with depression, chronic pain and constant mood swings.  I felt angry at the world which made me depressed…

One of the most significant miracles in my life happened when I went to see John of God (a famous spiritual healer in Brazil).  While I was there, someone talked to me about the teaching of Abraham.  With the little strength I had left, I started to apply these teachings.  Reluctantly at first, while grinding my teeth.  Then results started to show up.  But they were SO SMALL!  I wanted to be happy, and all I got was to feel less angry.

And yet, that was a new beginning for me.  I started heading the right way, instead of digging myself deeper and deeper.

Years later, I am feeling tons better.  My financial situation is exciting (it’s always fun to make money doing what you love), my relationships are more fulfilling and I’m getting really good at manifesting what I want in my life.

But for the last year, I have kept hitting the same wall: boredom.  Now if you are not familiar with the emotional scale from Abraham-Hicks.com, here it is:
1) Empowerment/Joy/Knowledge/Freedom/Love/Appreciation
2) Passion
3) Enthusiasm/Eagerness/Happiness
4) Positive Expectation/Belief
5) Optimism
6) Hopefulness
7) Contentment
8) Boredom
9) Pessimism
10) Frustration/Irritation/Impatience
11) Overwhelment
12) Disappointment
13) Doubt
14) Worry
15) Blame
16) Discouragement
17) Anger
18) Revenge
19) Hatred/Rage
20) Jealousy
21) Insecurity/Guilt/Unworthiness
22) Powerlessness/Fear/Grief/Depression/Despair

So five years ago, I have bouncing around between 22 and 17.  After 6 months with Abe’s teachings, I  averaged between 17 and 15 but I was starting to have several days in a row where I would peak around 3.  After 1 year, I was hovering between 14 and 10, with daily peaks around 2 and 3.  Five years later, I average around 6.

Don’t get me wrong, I still get a nice, juicy 22 once in a while.  But it’s the exception, not the rule.  And I climb up the scale ever so quickly that I don’t stay there long.

But there is always a "sticky spot".  My sticky spot used to be hatred.  I could not tolerate to feel hatred (19) towards someone or something.  As such, I would end up in guilt (21) and find myself unable to move the right way on the emotional scale (i.e. upward).  I finally developed tools (see the workshop "Embracing the present: Using Intuitive Healing and Polarity to get past roadblocks" here for details) to help myself moved past that sticky spot and I bubbled up to 6.

So where’s my sticky spot now?  Boredom (8).   By sticky spot, I mean a place that keeps lowering your daily average because you always find yourself there.  No matter how high you peak, the sticky spot drags you down.

So why I am posting about this?  The first step in releasing a sticky spot is to stop fighting it.  The more your resist, the more it persists.  I am posting here as a way to embrace my current situation.  To let it be so it can let me be.   It’s very exciting for me as Boredom is the very last negative emotion on the scale before you start bouncing between all the positive ones!!!

So I have the day off today…and nothing planned.  Should be interesting ;)

Law of Attraction goes mainstream

February 9th, 2007

The creators of the movie "The Secret" were invited on Oprah yesterday.  I stumbled upon this even though I usually don’t watch TV during daytime.  So I figured this was my cue for a post about it!

If you have not heard of this movie, you might want to get out a little bit more…It’s been spreading like a wild fire.  It discusses the Law Of Attraction (LOA) and the concept of Deliberate Creation.  I watched this movie (online) because Abraham was in it.  For years I had been studying Abe’s teachings and it was so exciting to see a movie about LOA.

While my work as an Intuition Coach is still considered weird and marginal, I always knew it was only a matter of time before mainstream picked up on its fundamental concepts, such as LOA.  And I am watching this happen with uttermost delight…TV shows about non physical beings started popping up (Medium, Ghost Whisperer).   Movies about Deliberate Creation and LOA are now  available in theaters and video stores (Conversation with God, The Celestine Prophecy, The Secret).  And now, a final consecration: Oprah!

There has been some interesting drama around this movie (for those of us who like a little drama with their well-being).  Abraham, after being the back bone of the first version, expressed desire to withdraw from this production.   It seems that the producers were quite surprised by the public’s response to the movie and started cash-in on this phenomenon by jacking up the prices.  You used to be able to buy it for $8.95.  Now it’s on sale at $23.95.

I can’t say this has affected me much.  I don’t like being crowded by DVD boxes, so I watch it online for $4.95…

So many people have been talking about LOA one way or the other for so many years that it has gathered significant vibrational escrow in collective consciousness.  No wonder it’s getting so much attention right now.

I am eternally grateful to Abraham for offering me a crystal clear presentation of this concept and all its repercussions.  It changed my life!
