Types of Shields for Empaths

February 7th, 2009

Shields are your primary method of protection from unwanted and/or negative energy, with a variety of different styles used for different purposes. While some people may settle on a preferred shielding method and stick pretty much to that, it is recommended that you learn and practice multiple shielding methods so that you’re better prepared in different situations.

This overview is not a complete list, since anyone can develop new methods. As with any situation, you should become proficient at analyzing a situation and determining the best shielding type to use. As with all Workings, intent is the key — you have to be 100% sure of the intent you give to the shields. Shields can also be given different colors or shapes depending on your preferred operating style.

Energy and focus/concentration requirements for any of these may vary depending on your skill and practice.

Empaths beware: You might be picking up unsconscious feelings!

January 22nd, 2009

As Empaths, we can feel other people’s emotions.
Some of us are also Telepaths, meaning that we can pick up on people’s thoughts as well.

In both cases, it’s critical to be aware that what we read is not always conscious in the other person’s mind.

So what does that mean for us?
Example 1
Let’s say you are picking up on a feeling of jealousy from your best friend. That reading could make you feel resentful or suspicious of your friend’s behavior. Suddenly, your interpretation of her actions is tainted by this negative perspective.

But what if she’s not consciously aware that she’s jealous of you? And if she was aware of it, she’d do everything she can to work it out and move past this? Doesn’t that make the whole thing a lot more positive?

Example 2
Your boyfriend feels very physically attracted to someone at his work, but it’s unconscious. If you’re not careful, you might read too much into this and think that he’s having an affair! But he’s not aware of this. And he would never act on this attraction. It’s just an unconscious feeling that we all feel at some point or other…

The unconscious mind plays a very important role in our life: it is used as a storage and processing facility for things that you are not currently ready to deal with at the conscious level (either it would hurt you, or you don’t have a solution yet, or it’s still evolving, etc.). So if you’re reading unconscious thoughts, beware of what you choose to do with them.

So what can we do about this?
1) When you are reading someone, clarify in your own mind what you want to read. Conscious only? Conscious + Unconscious?

2) When you are talking to someone about your reading, explain to them that some of this might be unconscious.

3) If you are unsure about whether or not something is conscious, ask them how they feel before you jump with your reading. They will let you know right away of what they are aware consciously! Go on from there.

4) If you feel the unconscious thoughts are relevant but they’re not quite ready yet, give a hint about the tricky topic, instead of blurting out the whole thing. People feel more empowered when you accompany them on their path of understanding, as opposed to dumping it all in front of them.

Also, as a general rule I only read people with whom I am working professionally or who have asked for my opinion (like on this forum). Reading your family and friends is more likely to cause confusion when you are not very experienced in deciphering the conscious from the unconscious thoughts.
PS: I must confess that I still stray away from this rule once in a while and I always regret it!

In love,
Elise

Empathic Shapeshifting

January 19th, 2009

A Guest Post by Misuchi

When I say shapeshifting you might think about someone who can change into an animal, or take on the characteristics of an animal.

You might think about werewolves and werecats, popularized in stories and movies. Turning into a werewolf is called lycanthropy. This means that the person takes on the physical aspects of a wolf or a cat, or some other creature.

It has been a shamanic practice for eons, though most Shamans do not take on the physical aspects of the animals, except on an astral level. They morph within that plane of existence to better work with spirits and healing practices.

But physical shapeshifting is slightly different than what we are talking about here. It is, shall we say, a more primal type of shapeshifting compared to Empathic Shapeshifting, which is the topic of the blog.

Simple Negative Energy Releasing Technique by Misuchi

January 10th, 2009

There are many ways to cleanse yourself of negative energy and/or emotions which have accumulated after helping others. There are meditations, stones, smudgings, salt baths……and many more.

This particular technique can be done anywhere and at any time. It takes only a minute to do. But at best, it is only a quick fix for momentary relief.

An example would be taking on the negative emotions of a friend at work who was reprimanded. Since you are at work and can not leave immediately to go and cleanse yourself, this would be a viable alternative until you were able to get someplace to cleanse yourself.

The Technique

Close your eyes. Picture your chakras full of swirling energy. Imagine the heart chakra in your minds eye. The heart chakra is the base of emotion. Now imagine a flower (I prefer to picture a lotus blossom) blooming out of the core that is your heart chakra. See the flower in detail. See the center of the flower and imagine pushing out all of that negative energy. Picture black gas( no fart jokes please) being pushed out of the flower’s center and dissipating into nothingness in he air.

The reason this works is because chakras are energy portals. If they can take in energy, then they can also release energy.

And again, this is only one technique among many. And it may not suit everyone all the time.

Oh and what does this have to do with empathic perspective? Well think about it. We consider ourselves sponges of all emotions and types of energy. But if you flip the coin, changing your perspective of the same situation, you can also rid yourself of those emotions very easily.

Empaths ,

The world is lighting up with Empaths!

December 12th, 2008
The Applied Intuition Program

A year ago, a created a web site for Empaths called “The Empath Community“.  At the time, I thought there would be a handful of people who’d join and we’d exchange tips and stories about the trials and tribulations involved in this mind boggling experience.

Today, I looked at the Where are u?
map that shows the location of our members as little dots on a world map…And I admit it, tears poured
out as I saw the world literally light up with Empaths dots!

It warms my heart to see so many answer the call and step forward to say:
Yes, I’m an Empath (…and I’m not crazy dammit! LOL).

I cannot express in words our grateful I am that you are here.
Every self aware Empath is such a blessing to our world. I feel
profoundly moved by your courage to step forward and embrace who you
truly are, no matter what others might think about this.

In amazing love,
Elise
