Being transparent: finding your true colors

January 11th, 2007

When Hell breaks loose around you, it’s not easy to stay centered and connected with yourself.  We tend to become like ships caught in the storm.  Suddenly, we’re reacting to the  drama around us instead of responding with our own choices.  We forget our true colors.

On days like this, and today is one of them, I don’t try to fight the storm.  Instead, I become totally transparent to it.  I become a ghost ship that can sail right through water, people and other boats.

I imagine that my energy field (the magnetic field that surrounds the human body) is getting bigger and thinner, instead of being compact and solid.  At some point, my energy is so thin that things that used to get caught in it now flow right through it.  I have become a ghost and all the drama around me from other people’s lives goes passed without affecting me.

This is the best way I have found to reconnect with myself, what I want, what I choose.  It doesn’t always work.  Sometimes I get swept away by the leaking faucet that is driving me insane with frustration :)  But more and more, it allows me to get past turbulent times quickly and easily.  And as I do this, I am able to stay grounded when others around me need a quiet harbor.

In love,

Thank you for writing more about transparency. This idea has bugged me a lot since I was first introduced to it.

I just re-read Topic 8 in your Fluency program on the same subject. The things that tripped me up when I read it from the Topic is I never got the image of enlarging and thinning out my energy the way you write about here. Instead, I took it to understand I had to disappear which idea I personally have trouble with; I have been disappearing in various ways most of my life and I would like to be here, now as Ram Dass says and still not get so much stimulation from others “caught” in my energy field.

The whole being a ghost metaphor doesn’t help me either it just gives me other scary issues with the being transparent idea.

When you talk about being transparent here as an enlarging and thinning of my energy I find it more helpful and I can imagine it similar to when water goes from solid to liquid to gas, things can pass through it at each stage that couldn’t in the previous, more dense, state. Still though, it remains water! I would like to gain some sense of this transparency you’re talking about and still be myself and not have to disappear in order to still be in the outside world.

I wonder is there another thing to call it?

I don’t see being transparent as needing to disappear. On the contrary, you are still there!. Just more “you” instead of being “you+everythingElseAroundYou.”

Disapearing implies that something is wrong with you and it needs to be out of the way.

Being transparent implies that you can be yourself while being in the world, unaffected by its drama.

    Hope this helps :)
